May is highlighted by five planetary stations and the powerful alignment of Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron in Aquarius. May begins under a late April lunation in Taurus. In mid-month there is a shift from stable, patient Taurus to changeable, communicative Gemini.

On May 6, Mercury turns retrograde at 2 degrees of Gemini. During this cycle, Mercury will travel from Gemini back into Taurus until turning direct on May 30. This will be a good time to look at our perceptions, attitudes and self-expression around ideas that are important to us (Gemini), as well as personal resources and prosperity (Taurus). While Mercury is in Gemini (May 6-13), we may experience more problems with traffic, computers and cars, as well as verbal misunderstandings. Taking more time and care for communicating in complex or difficult situations will ensure clarity of understanding.

The Full Moon will occur on May 8 at 19 degrees of Scorpio. Scorpio themes include being possessive, secretive, compulsive, intense and resourceful. This lunation will make a challenging aspect to Pluto, while favorably aligning with Saturn. This is a powerful lunation period for making transformative inner changes, especially if we have been stuck in outmoded or fearful thinking and habit patterns. The Sabian symbol for this degree speaks to the capacity to transmit and learn from higher intelligences.

On May 16 Saturn turns stationary direct at 15 degrees of Virgo. Now Saturn is half-way through its journey through Virgo. This is a favorable time to examine our life goals and begin taking more outward, determined steps towards their achievement.

Several challenging Mercury aspects from May 17-20 could cause misunderstandings, overreactions or confusion, especially under Mercury retrograde. This is a poor time to make any long-term agreements, even if you think you understand all the finer points. As the planets are in fixed signs, it will be harder to make any necessary changes later on. There is also likely to be more traffic congestion or other delays, so plan on taking extra time for everything, as well as practicing patience and flexibility.

From May 23-27, Jupiter will align with first Chiron and then Neptune. The New Moon also occurring now makes this an especially potent week. This trio will be traveling together until early next year, providing us with many new perspectives, innovations and reforms. Since Aquarius is a humanitarian sign, we are likely to see more growth in social networks and communities, as well as grassroots organizations and political movements. This planetary combination can also bring the grace that allows synchronicities and miracles to occur, if we are in the right consciousness. Chiron is also an agent of change, bringing up old wounds to be healed and perceived in a new light. As there will likely be more confusion and illusion in the world at this time, it will be especially important to stay grounded in one's own spiritual center. Individuals with planets at 24-27 degrees of the fixed signs will be more powerfully impacted by these transits.

The New Moon occurs on May 24 at 3 degrees of Gemini. This is around the same degree as the Mercury station earlier in the month. Gemini themes include communication, ideas, networking, teaching, writing, education; being articulate, fluent, versatile, curious, adaptable, scattered, superficial and flexible. The Sabian symbol speaks of the nostalgia for more natural and feeling-oriented values. This would be a good month to do journal writing to gain more clarity on current feelings and values.

Three planetary stations occur over a three-day period at the end of May. On May 28, Neptune turns retrograde at 26 degrees of Aquarius. On May 30, Chiron also turns retrograde at the same degree, while Mercury turns direct at 23 degrees of Taurus. Many previously hidden elements may come into our awareness during this period.

The highlights of June include the summer solstice, one planetary station and the second conjunction of Venus and Mars. In mid-month there is a shift from changeable, airy Gemini to sensitive, feeling-oriented Cancer.

The Full Moon occurs on June 7 at 17 degrees of Sagittarius. Sagittarius themes include philosophy, travel and higher education; being optimistic, idealistic, athletic and independent. There is a challenging aspect to Saturn, which may bring obstacles and more serious concerns to normally lighthearted Sagittarius. The Sabian symbol for this degree speaks to realizing the value of protectiveness (Saturn), yet also the negative possibility that too much protection may be unhealthy and defeat its purpose. We may need to do some exploring (Jupiter) in order to find the right balance for ourselves.

Jupiter in Aquarius turns retrograde on June 15, which favors a time to become more aware of one's inner visions, goals and ideals. If some of our goals seem difficult to manifest, it may be time to apply a dose of Saturn to break them up into smaller and more realistic steps or stages.

On June 21 the second alignment of Venus and Mars occurs at 15 degrees of Taurus. This time there is a stable trine aspect to Saturn in Virgo. This is a highly favorable time for beginning new romantic or business partnerships, as this aspect promotes mutual enjoyment as well as stability.

The New Moon occurs on June 22 at 1 Cancer 30. Cancer themes include home, family, children, food and security issues; being feeling-oriented, sensitive, nurturing, protective and moody. Since this lunation aligns with Pluto, there will also likely be power and control issues emerging this month. Unresolved family or relationship issues can suddenly reappear, but there is the opportunity for a new perspective that will facilitate greater understanding and healing.

A preview of July includes a Uranus station on July 1, followed by a series of eclipses that stretch into August (see special below). The signs featured include Capricorn/Cancer and Aquarius/Leo. It looks like we have an eventful summer ahead. Many blessings for a joyful, healthy and prosperous spring and summer!
