A Libra planetary line-up brings relationships into high focus in September. The line-up of Venus, Mars and Mercury occurs in mid-September just before the Full Moon. Also featured are the three planetary stations of Jupiter, Pluto and Mercury.
The late August Blue Moon in Virgo provides an earthy overtone to the month, until the New Moon in late September. This is enhanced by the favorable alignment of the sun and Saturn in Virgo with Jupiter in Capricorn on September 3 and 4. Since we are likely to feel more disciplined and organized, this is a good time to take practical steps toward achieving our goals. Jupiter turns direct on September 7, enhancing our ability to attract the right opportunities. The main caution is to watch for a tendency toward excesses, which may intensify when Pluto in Sagittarius turns direct the next day. This promises to be a powerful period when one's energies need to be directed very consciously for the best outcome. The dominant themes will likely include morality, philosophy/religion, growth/expansion, education and travel. When Jupiter favorably aligns with Saturn on September 8, professional and business activities can be successfully promoted. We may also see some major fluctuations in our economy at this time.
Since the Mercury retrograde shadow begins on September 3, be prepared for an increasing amount of changeability to occur as the month progresses. I often feel that the preceding two to three-week period before the retrograde period officially begins (on September 24) is equally as unpredictable. Our ability to flow with the changes with patience and grace will be key factors to navigating this period.
On September 11, Venus aligns with Mars at 15 degrees of Libra. With romantic Venus in her own sign, the forces of attraction are very potent at this time. There will be a strong drive for like-minded others to come together to form relationships and partnerships. An enhanced need for harmony and balance will prevail in existing relationships. When Mercury joins this pair on September 14, we are better able to verbalize our feelings and needs so they are received in a harmonious fashion. Making connections is the main theme for this month. Journaling and spiritual work to make inner connections, as well as social interactions for making outer connections are all favored. Both these activities complement each other and we will need to find what works best for us to achieve the right balance.
The Full Moon occurs on September 15 at 22 degrees of Pisces. Pisces themes include spirituality, unity, idealism, escapism, addiction, compassion, visions and dreams. Since this lunation aligns with Uranus, we may feel more detached or change our minds more than usual during the next two weeks. Uranus also heightens our intuition and idealism.
All of the Libra planets will go on to square Jupiter and then trine Neptune from September 7-21. If we begin to feel overloaded or overwhelmed, it would be best to take a break for more introspective or meditative activity. This is a good month to practice creative visualization and affirmations for healing and manifestation - and to remember that what we focus on will likely manifest more easily during this time.
Mercury in Libra turns retrograde from September 24 until October 16. During this time, we may experience recurring relationship patterns that need to be revisited and further refined. Old relationships may resurface during this period, especially if there is unfinished business involving communication. As Mercury aligns with Mars on both September 8 and 23, there is a tendency to be more reactive and judgmental for most of this month. Be aware of the need for empathy, clarity and patience in all communications.
The New Moon occurs on September 29 at 6 degrees and 33 minutes of Libra. Libra themes include relationships, partnerships, harmony, balance, cooperation, indecision and seeing both sides. This lunation gives us the opportunity of seeing how we might bring more balance to the give and take in our relationships. Are we sacrificing our own needs to maintain a relationship - or perhaps demanding more attention for ourselves? This dynamic can also be examined in other close relationships, such as friendship, business or family relationships. On inner levels, we can also look at the balance between the active and receptive sides of our own personality as we interact with ourselves and others.
October begins while Mercury is still retrograde, so there is some lingering chaos and confusion that may present continuing challenges. The Full Moon occurs on October 14 at 22 degrees of Aries. Aries qualities include courage, leadership, self-confidence and energetic activity. This lunation also aligns with Neptune, providing us with some inner visions and vivid dreams. The next day Mercury turns direct and we can activate these Aries qualities to move forward toward our goals.
The New Moon occurs on October 28 at 6 degrees of Scorpio. Scorpio themes include releasing and letting go, rebirth, transformation, resourcefulness, emotional intensity and empowerment. Favorable activities could include cleaning out closets, giving away unused items, doing some internal cleansing, researching a favorite subject, or solving a mystery. On November 1, Neptune in Aquarius turns direct, which will be a good time for self-reflection and tuning into one's inner guidance. Blessings for a wonderful and prosperous autumn!
