February features two eclipses, one planetary station and a focus on the signs of Aquarius and Pisces. This month provides us with a theme of humanitarian compassion blended with detachment. Due to the long-range power of both eclipses, the consequences of our current actions may last for the next six months.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse occurs on February 6 at 18 degrees of Aquarius, and has an alignment with both Mercury and Neptune. The themes here revolve around humanitarian and spiritual activities, and adopting a universal, idealistic and progressive outlook. Since Mercury is still retrograde, we are unable to get the clarity that we seek at this time. Therefore, it is best to put off important decisions until late February. It is more favorable to use this period for getting in touch with our intuitive impressions and guidance. A harmonious aspect between Venus and Uranus may present us with some new and interesting ideas, opportunities and social connections.
An alignment of the sun with Mars and Jupiter during February 14-17 favors activities requiring physical energy and self-confidence. Venus entering the sign of Aquarius will emphasize a more detached,independent approach towards relationships. As Aquarius is an air sign, it is favorable for communications with like-minded others and all humanitarian pursuits.
Mercury finally turns direct on February 18 at 8 degrees of Aquarius. However, it will be best to wait a few days until after the Lunar Eclipse before moving forward with new projects. We will now begin to gain more clarity about life events and goals in order to make important decisions.
The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse takes place on February 20 at 2 degrees of Virgo. This lunation is conjunct Saturn and favorably aligned with Pluto. The earth emphasis provides us with a new sense of grounding that had been missing until this time. Actions initiated at this time have more power, durability and likelihood of success. Virgo themes and activities may include a critical analysis of ideas, making career changes, doing volunteer work and adopting a new health and diet regimen. Since there is also an alignment between the sun and Vesta, we will see a new focus on determining what will make us feel more secure. The Venus/Saturn aspect the next day assures that this theme carries over into our finances and partnerships.
With Venus, Mercury, Mars and Chiron all aligned in Aquarius, the latter part of this month will favor communicating our ideas and ideals in relationships. We are able to fully express our feelings with a new sense of clarity. In addition, Neptune is gradually moving closer to the North Node in Aquarius, which encourages empathy and a more spiritual perspective. Take this time to work through any major differences in partnerships, because they are likely to be challenged more severely when Mars opposes Pluto on March 7. This latter aspect brings out angry feelings that may lead to sudden breakups. Since this opposition takes place near the world point axis, any events occurring now will be more striking in their effects.
Due to the eclipses, our US election process may still be in flux and take some unexpected turns during the course of this month. The last part of February and early March may bring some sudden events and/or revelations about the leading candidates that may affect the outcome. Staying receptive and open-ended concerning one's commitments may be the best strategy.
