September promises to be a highly charged month with a solar eclipse, two planetary stations, Saturn entering Virgo, and a grand cross in mutable signs. October also has two planetary stations, along with a Galactic Alignment with Pluto.
On September 2, Saturn begins a two-year sojourn through Virgo. During this time, there will be more focus and restructuring in the areas of technology, work, education, health and safety. Individuals will tend to be more critical and discriminating, as well as more health-conscious. Expect to hear a lot more about technology challenges, as well as food and product safety issues. The concept of multitasking will continue to gain popularity, appearing in nearly every job description. Yet more will ponder if it can be done successfully and if it is really desirable. On the other hand, the voluntary simplicity movement may grow even stronger, as more realize the illusions of a material lifestyle or are mobilized by practical necessity due to a slower economy. Major challenges will involve our willingness to see the whole picture, instead of being obsessed with the details or focusing solely on one narrow viewpoint.
The first critical Mars alignment is a square to Uranus, occurring on September 3 in the signs of Gemini and Pisces. The potency of this highly changeable aspect is increased due to its alignment with the upcoming solar eclipse on September 11. As this mutable grand cross will be in effect over the next few weeks, it is advisable to avoid unnecessary confrontations during this time and prepare for sudden disruptions in the outer world. Mars in Gemini could bring sudden windstorms or other earth/weather events, along with an increase in accidents.
On a more personal level, expect to deal with more communication challenges this month. The rush to communicate, often in anger, can overwhelm one's better judgment. This would be a good time to practice some mindfulness before speaking or jumping to conclusions. As the energies are more unstable between eclipses, it is best to postpone any important actions or decisions until after the September New Moon/Solar Eclipse.
Both Pluto and Venus turn stationary direct on September 7 and 8, further increasing the intensity of this grand cross period. There may be more economic reversals (as was forecast in the July column) as well as natural disasters. Power issues are likely to arise in partnerships, as compromise becomes more difficult and Venus in Leo demands more attention to one's own personal needs. As Mercury and Mars are aligned with Neptune, there will be a greater need to strive for clarity in communications and actions.
On September 11, a New Moon/Solar Eclipse occurs at 18 degrees of Virgo. The sun and moon will align with Uranus, Mars, and Pluto to create a mutable grand cross. This mutable emphasis gives a quickening effect, allowing for fast-paced events that seem to come from unexpected directions. About ten days later, the Mars/Pluto opposition will be exact on September 21. So we will be experiencing these powerful and potentially explosive aspects for the first three weeks of September. Fortunately, this Mars/Pluto opposition is somewhat softened by an alignment of Venus and Neptune. Neptune inspires us to act on our highest visions while incorporating some sensitivity and compassion along the way.
Since Virgo (and mutable) themes are also related to education, this will be a good month to expand our awareness and skills through taking classes, as well as teaching. Virgo subjects include employment, crafts, pets, and health, diet and fitness. It is also a good time for volunteer activities or determining how we can be of better service within our own communities.
The Full Moon occurs on September 26 at 3 degrees of Aries. Aries themes include pioneering, leadership, courage and self-assertion. This fiery Aries energy can propel us forward to initiate new activities to achieve personal goals. However, as Mercury has already entered the shadow period on September 21, we may begin experiencing some delays and disruptions. I have found that this 2-week shadow period before Mercury officially turns retrograde is often equally as challenging as the actual retrograde.
The final Jupiter/Uranus alignment occurs on October 9, calling our attention to where we need more freedom and independence. Now is the time to bring resolution to any remaining conflicts and prepare for some new beginnings tomorrow. The New Moon will occur on October 10 at 17 degrees and 30 minutes of Libra. It is in a favorable alignment with both Neptune and Jupiter. Libra themes include partnership, art, beauty, harmony and cooperation. Neptune and Jupiter bring in the complementary elements of faith, grace and refinement.
On October 11, Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio and then back into Libra. During the next three weeks we will be revisiting issues connected to relationships/partnerships, with a focus on power, letting go, intimacy, cooperation, balance and harmony. Observe the usual cautions regarding signing contracts and all new beginnings.
Pluto aligns with the Galactic Center on October 24 as we move into a Full Moon in Taurus the next day. Any new foundations created this month will have extra potency and significance from this powerful alignment. Taurus themes include banking, finances, the voice, sensuality and values. A Venus/Uranus alignment on this day may bring some sudden new attractions.
On October 31, Neptune turns stationary direct and on November 1, Mercury in Libra also turns direct. This combination tends to attract events that contain deception, weirdness or scandal. However, since these planets are in a harmonious aspect, this energy could also be used very positively for manifesting our higher ideals and humanitarian goals. Blessings for an abundant autumn!
